Seoul far seoul good.

The first in a long line of bad Seoul puns.  As I sit and type this I here No Woman No Cry play at some bar off in the distance.  We are sitting in the Bong House in Seoul.  It is 1:24 a.m. local time.  We are exhausted from the days travels but eager to see what this next season has in store.  We met three new friends on the plane.  They all live in Seoul and we plan on getting together sometime over the next couple of days.   After I took a shower and a s$#@, Jill and I went out to check out the town a bit.  We knew we wanted to keep it short so we could get to bed so we went and bought her a hair dryer and then went to a bar.  About 2.50 for a bottle of Soju, about 7.00 for some stale chips and salsa and a little bit of nacho cheese.  In other words it may be a lot cheeper to get drunk than get full.  We'll see...

In other news, the person who checked us in at the hostel is named Kevin.  He's  covering up a bandaid on his face from "sparring".

Travel Survival Kit

Consulate Prize

We picked up our VISAS today in Manhattan.  It was a much easier process than I had imagined.  We went to the Korean consulate twice, once to apply for our visa and once to pick it up.  Both times, the people were smiling and the lines were short.  I hope that all of our future encounters with Korean public servants go as smooth.  When we got back to our sister's place in Chelsea we bought tickets for our flight.  We leave the morning February 13th and arrive in Seoul on the 14th at 7:30 p.m. for some Valentines BiBimBap! 

Life After Empire

The journey begins...

Today is Jill's last day of work (mine was yesterday).  Tomorrow we are flying to Manhattan to stay with her sister for a week and then we will have approximately 10 days when we return to pack and sell of a few final things before we take off to the "Land of Tae Kwon Do".  It has been a while since I have made any appearances in the blogosphere, but this transition in life seems like an appropriate one to reinitiate this discipline.  I will be wanting to communicate everything that is happening in my life as well as try to keep in touch as best I can with all of you.  See you in a year :)
